There are some big cities in Eastern Slovakia which are considered to be the centers of tourism and at the same time big industrial centers. More and more tourists come to Eastern Slovakia each year and they need places to stay in. Koshitse and Preshov are the biggest cities in this part of Slovakia. Besides tourists a lot of businessmen come to these cities and they also rent flats and apartments. But the most popular dwellings are those situated not in big cities, but in the country near the famous national parks of Slovakia, its mountain-skiing resorts, famous caves and castles.
The most interesting part of Eastern Slovakia is the historical region of Spish. The castle Spishski Grad which is the centre of the region has recently been included into the list of UNESCO World Heritage.
If you are going to travel round Slovakia independently you should visit such places as Kezhmarok and Gerlakhov. They are small but very cosy with neat streets and well kept monuments of the middle ages like anywhere in Slovakia. Not far from Kezhmarok there is a village called Chrveni Klastor (the Red Monastery), which is considered to be the so-called capital of the Pejeninsky reservation. Two other places Liptovska Teplichka and Gerlakhov are famous as mountain-skiing centers, so if you would like to spend holidays there in winter you should book and rent dwellings beforehand.
Eastern Slovakia, thanks to a great number of rivers, is very popular among those who is fond of active holidays. The most popular sporting activities there are mountaineering and rafting. The most popular river among the lovers of the extreme sport in Slovakia is the river Denubets.
