Mistríky in Donovaly: Winter, Family Experiences, and Local History
Accommodation in Mistríky
Mistríky Between Winter Experiences and Local History
Mistríky is a settlement in Donovaly where winter activities, family experiences, and traces of history can be combined. This gives the area different points of interest for planning your trip: you can focus on learning to ski, visit a mini farm with animals, plan a cycling route, or explore the history of individual buildings.
Learning to Ski at PATTY SKI FUN PARK
PATTY SKI FUN PARK is located in Mistríky in Donovaly. It lies between the Nová Hoľa and Záhradište ski slopes and has nine Sunkid conveyor belts. These make it easier for children to learn to ski. If you are travelling with children and choose winter sports as a focus of your trip, the park is therefore a specific point of reference for your planning. Its location between the two named ski slopes is just as much part of its local context as the name of the park itself.
Donovalkovo and the Animals of the Mini Farm
Another travel highlight is Donovalkovo. The mini farm is located at Mistríky 467, 976 39 Donovaly. It is home to mini sheep, horned mini goats, a mini donkey, a Falabella miniature horse, a mini pony, alpacas, dwarf rabbits, and guinea pigs. Visitors to the Donovalkovo mini farm can also receive a farmer's pass, which allows them to feed the animals. For families, this creates an engaging encounter with various small farm and domestic animals, without reducing the outing to a general list of attractions.
Historical Traces in the Settlement
The local history is also part of Mistríky's character. Among the chapels in the settlements of Donovaly is the chapel in Mistríky dedicated to Saint Joseph. It was built in 1893. Another historical point of interest is the birthplace of Ján Donoval, which is also located in the settlement. A plaque bearing his name is affixed to the building. The interior of the birthplace is not accessible. This part of your stay therefore focuses on the external historical context rather than viewing the interior.
Cycling Loop and Route to the Spring in the Prameň Valley
Mistríky can also be included in active travel plans. The “Donovaly – Polianka – Mistríky – Pod Magurou – Donovaly” cycling loop passes through Mistríky. Anyone wishing to choose a cycling tour based on its route will find a clearly named loop here that includes the settlement as one section. Another route leads from the centre of Donovaly through the settlement of Mistríky to a spring in the Prameň Valley. The spring is enclosed in a wooden trough. This means that, alongside winter sports, you can also choose a cycling route and a path leading to a specific destination in the valley.
Directions for Your Journey
There is a distinctive landmark to help with local orientation: approximately 200 metres beyond a wooden bus stop, there is a right turn to the Mistríky settlement. If you organise your trip around your planned experiences, you can choose between learning to ski, encounters with animals, local history, and routes. You can then search more specifically for suitable accommodation in Donovaly or Mistríky based on the desired character of your trip.
