Slovakia is lucky enough to be in the center of Europe. The geographical position of the country is the main advantage for the development of incoming tourism. Even with the lack of its main sights Slovakia is doomed to a high level of tourism.
By the way there are enough sights in Slovakia and there are not less auto tourists who come here to get new impressions and adventures than those ones who pass this country on the way to some other districts. It is quiet logical in this situation that Slovakia holds one of the first places among the countries of Eastern Europe in the quantity of campsites.
Slovak campsites are in demand among young people who in the majority of cases are unpretentious and try to economize on accommodation as much as possible. That is why conveniences in Slovak campsites are very close to Spartan ones. A shower, a bar, a toilet are a set of standard things which is seldom added by some extra options including a swimming pool or a bike hire. On the other hand it is quiet difficult to find an accommodation cheaper than 4 eur which is an average price of a place in an equipped campsite.
The geography of clients of Slovak campsites is quiet vast. It includes Slovaks themselves, the Czechs, the Polish, the Germans, the Austrians and the Dutch who are the biggest lovers to stay in campsites.
There are more campsites in the west of the country, in Zhilinskaya and Banskabystrickaya regions and also in the suburbs of Bratislava. The majority of campsites are situated in a traditional tourist region of Vysokie Tatry in the suburbs of the town Poprad. The part of campsites was built in the times of socialist Slovakia and part of them appeared not so long ago.
What is not quiet good in Slovakia is a problem with campsites in well-known National parks of the country. It is no use speaking about the admittance of all volunteers here – all the places are occupied half a year before.
