With the advent of spring many ski resorts in Slovakia have traditionally begun the preparations for the closure of the season. However, the early March this year turned out to be cold for Slovakia. Frosty weather in the High Tatras and the Low Tatras, the main regions of the winter holiday in Slovakia, as well as abundance of snow on the slopes allows skiers to test their skills on the majority of the Slovakian slopes.

Today at the key resorts of Slovakia, such as Strbske Pleso, Tatranska Lomnica, Ruzhemberok, Donovaly and others are operating most of the lifts. The level of snow cover on the Tatra slopes range from 50 centimeters in Donovaly to one meter in Strbske Pleso.

At the same time at some resorts has been observed a relatively complicated situation with the snow. These include the tracks of Lomnické Sedlo. The highest resort in Slovakia, located in the vicinity of Tatranska Lomnica is experiencing a real shortage of snow on its slopes. At the same time, the Jasna resort in the Low Tatras received recently "very good" mark for the quality of trails.

And, perhaps, the main good news for the skiers is a widespread decline of prices for ski passes in Slovakia, which took place after March 8. The average price of season tickets to the routes fell by a third. It concerns a group of leading resorts in Slovakia, which joined in the Park snow ski zone, - Strbske Pleso and Donovaly. Here, the cost of day ski pass costs now 16 euros. In Jasna the weekly lift pass can be purchased for 91 euro.

Accommodation in the resorts of Slovakia is also cheaper now. The reasons are: the outflow of tourists at the end of the period of school holidays and excellent weather conditions. Thanks to temperature from -5 C to -2 C established in the region in March this can be considered as the "velvet" ski season in Slovakia.

The fact that the season is not closed is backed by a large number of different events, which Slovakia will organize in March. Among the most striking is the Slovakia Freestyle-Snowboarding Cup, which will be held on March 13, 2010 at the Jasna resort. This Cup is one of the competitions of the NOKIA Snowboard X Tour.
