Golf in Slovakia
Golf is the kind of sport for the elect and Slovakia is going to be one of them. In the world of business golf is considered to be just nessesary as the knowledge of the English launguage for the businessmen. It is the instrument for communication. Slovakian golf traditions are hundreds years old. “The iron curtain” was destroyed 20 years ago and now this “bourgeois sport” is under development in Slovakia.
Slovakian golf history starts in Tatranska Lomnica resort. The first golf ground appeared in 1908 in the High Tatry. Today there are several dozens of golf grounds with different services and prices in Slovakia. Some of them are for the professional players. They are placed in different regions of the country in the environs of Bratislava (Bernolakovo), in Koshice (Alpinka club), in Piestany resort, in Trencin and in Tatranska Lomnica.
The golf club “Gray Bear” is considered to be the best golf ground in the country. It is situated in Tale spa-resort in the Lower Tatry. It was opened not long ago and its ground has 18 holes in it.
There are also the possibilities of using the golf-simulator in some highly paid hotels in Slovakia. The golf-simulator in Bratislava is well-known. It’s 15 minutes far from the center of the city and it costs about 60 Eur per training.
Slovakian Golf Association (SKGA) is developing this kind of sport in the country. It organizes local and international golf tournaments and contests. SKGA is in close collaboration with the most famous world brends such as Audi, Samsung, Tommy Hilfiger, Volvo.
