Discover Jezersko

Jezersko combines a landslide-created lake, marked educational trails, winter sports in the upper part of the village, and a multifaceted local history. If you want to combine nature experiences with a clear choice between hiking, cycling, skiing, and historical impressions during your trip to Slovakia, the village offers several distinct points of access for doing so.

Jezerské Lake and educational trails

The Jezerské jazero nature reserve was designated in 1967. It covers 2.18 hectares and lies in the southern part of the cadastral area, about 2 km southwest of the built-up area of Jezersko. Jezerské Lake was formed by a landslide. Its maximum depth is 7.5 m, while its usual depth is between 2 and 4 m.

A green-marked hiking trail leads from Jezersko to Jezerské Lake. In addition, an educational trail runs from Jezersko around the lake to the ridge, the PANORAMA restaurant, and the Treetop Walk. The documented restriction is important for your planning: this educational trail is not suitable for prams or wheelchairs. The choice of route therefore differs significantly depending on the level of mobility required.

Ski resort in the upper part of Jezersko

The Ski Bachledova resort is located in the upper part of Jezersko, with 13 regularly groomed downhill runs and a total length of 11 km. It has four ski lifts and a four-seater chairlift. The chairlift takes you to the ridge of the Spišská Magura; from there, you can continue to other ski slopes towards Bachledova dolina, part of the municipality of Ždiar.

The winter activities also include 26 km of cross-country ski trails. At 26 km, these routes are more than twice as long as the 11 km of regularly groomed downhill runs. In addition to alpine skiing, cross-country skiing is therefore also possible in the upper part of Jezersko. The two activities differ not only in the type of sport, but also significantly in their total length.

Cycling route and historical traces

Jezersko is also part of a described route for cycling tours. A cycling route runs through Jezersko from Keheľ between Reľov and Spišské Hanušovce to the northern slopes of Bukovina in the Spišská Magura. The route thus provides a separate way to experience the landscape and should not be confused with the educational trail at Jezerské Lake.

The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, built in 1895, is part of the village's history. Historical sources mention Jezersko as early as 1590 as a farmstead or clearing settlement belonging to Nedecký Castle. Another specific trace dates from 1611: at that time, Šoltýs Christotor from Spišské Hanušovce was granted a reeve's charter in Jezersko with the right to brew beer. Thus, alongside the landscape and winter sports activities, there are also individual, clearly dated testimonies to the development of the village.
