Der Ort liegt im Naturschutzgebiet Niedere Tatra und ist als historischer Bergbauort bekannt. Dank seiner einzigartigen Architektur wurde Spania Dolina im Jahre 1979 zum Denkmal der Volksarchitektur erklärt. Spania Dolina ist ein Wanderparadies für Familien und alle Naturliebhaber.
