In Slovakia starts ice hockey World Championship

On April 29, 2011 in Slovakia for the first time will start ice hockey World Championship. Slovakia hosts world hockey championship for the first time in its history.
Without doubts, Slovakia deserved the right to host the hockey championship. Nowadays ice hockey in this country is one of the most popular sports.
World Cup games will be played in two cities - the capital Bratislava and the second largest city Kosice (Orange Arena in Bratislava and Steel Arena in Kosice). Capacity of the arenas is more than 8000 visitors.
Slovakia's national team set ambitious goals for this World Championship. To date, Slovakia is one of the 8 strongest teams in the world. According to the experts, the national team can get in the top three or even win the world title. Roster of the team, its new experienced coach Glen Hanlon, as well as home ice - these are the main advantages, which will play in favor of Slovakia.
Slovakia will compete in the preliminary round with Russia, Germany and Slovenia. Games in this groups will be held in Bratislava.
The first championship game will be held on 29 April 2011 at 16.15 local time. Russia will play with Germany, and Switzerland - with France. The first game of the Slovakian team with Slovenia will also take place on April 29 at 20.15 local time.
As for the roster of the Slovakian national team, just before the world championship, as expected, to it will join the legionnaires from the NHL: Marian Gaborik (New York Rangers), Lubomir Visnovski (Anaheim) and Michal Handzus (Los Angeles Kings ).
Hotels in Bratislava and Kosice on the eve of the Championship are in high demand. However, vacancies are still available. It can be booked now on slowakei-netz.de.

Slovakia will host the world motor racing competition for the first time
Slovakia Ring racing stadium located 36 km from the Slovak capital of Bratislava in the town of Orechova Poton will host one of the most spectacular racing in the world – a stage of FIA GT1 world road circuit racing series. According to sme.sk, competitions will be held on 28-29 of April.
