Hotel in Slovakia among the world's best hotels

On October 1, 2010 in Turkey at Belek resort was held an international awards ceremony in the field of tourism World Travel Awards. World Travel Awards is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in the world of modern tourism. This year among the winners was also Slovakia. More precisely, the hotel in Slovakia. Winner in the nomination of the "Best “green” hotel in the world" became a hotel in the capital of the High Tatras, Poprad, AquaCity.
It is worth noting that such a high award AquaCity receives not for the first time. It was a laureate in this category in 2007. In addition, it was repeatedly awarded by the title of the “Best Spa Hotel” in Slovakia itself.
The uniqueness of the AquaCity Hotel is that the hotel uses only natural energy sources in order not to pollute the environment. It uses solar and geothermal energy.
AquaCity Poprad hotel was opened in 2004. It became one of the first hotels in the region of Eastern Europe, which has implemented the concept of environmentally friendly hotel. Today AquaCity Poprad includes water park, business center, spa and two hotels: Hotel Seasons 3* Hotel and Mountain View 4*.
Location of the hotel deserves additional mentioning. AquaCity is located 8 minutes from Poprad International Airport and 15 minutes from the scenic mountain reserve the High Tatras. High Tatras is known as ecotourism region and one of the largest ski resorts in Eastern Europe.
It is worth noting that the AquaCity Poprad hotel became the only representative of Slovakia in international nominations of WTA.

Slovakia will host the world motor racing competition for the first time
Slovakia Ring racing stadium located 36 km from the Slovak capital of Bratislava in the town of Orechova Poton will host one of the most spectacular racing in the world – a stage of FIA GT1 world road circuit racing series. According to sme.sk, competitions will be held on 28-29 of April.

Ski resorts in Slovakia: European, not Soviet
Modern ski resorts in Slovakia now try to actively promote themselves in the European market. However, attraction of skiers from Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands is difficult task requiring serious effort even for such famous regions of the winter holidays in Slovakia as Strbske Pleso or Smokovec.
